Name: Jonathan
I live: Melbourne, Victoria
Hey! My name is Jono (if you couldn't already guess). I'm 19 and I grew up in bright and sunny Brisbane. Currently, I am in my 2nd year of Medical School at the University of Melbourne. I have many hobbies including piano, violin, public speaking and playing a little bit of tennis! Like a stereotypical guy, I LOVE cars and motor racing... I feel we are so privileged in this nation of Australia. Living in a democracy and having freedom of speech are just two principles that many thousands of people around the globe simply cannot enjoy. We have a sound economy with a majority of the population able to survive quite comfortably. I would love for many more people to experience the life that we so often take for granted. This is a life with worldwide, instantaneous communication through telephones and the internet. This is a life with improving healthcare and new medical breakthroughs aimed at reducing disease burden. This is a life where more and more young people are being granted opportunities to instigate change not just in their local community but in their city and across the country. My desire is to witness these developments spread throughout all the different populations represented on earth. There are many people that inspire me. Whilst people may disagree with my point of view, a person that inspires me is Prime Minister John Howard. Whether you agree with his political view or not, I believe the tenacity he has displayed throughout his career is noteworthy. So many people would have forsaken their dreams following the number of failures he encountered in his early political life. Yet his determination to succeed is now paying its dividends. I love to laugh at life and a good joke never fails to put a smile on my face. My favourite quote is that "life is not measured by the number of breaths you take, but by the number of moments that take your breath away". We should live life to the fullest and never let a day go by without making the most of it!
