In 2007 I finished off my honours in International Studies. After kickin about in a warehouse for a year, I decided it was time to do something - ever since I've been volunteering with Inspire and Oaktree, doin my bit.
I'm 23, work at a call center, and love goin to live music. I'm very interested in human rights, indigenous rights, international relations, journalism and film as a means of empowerment.
I've been lucky enough to travel quite widely - I majored in Mandarin at Uni, and have travelled China several times. Also France and a brief stint in Singapore. Travelling China has been a catalysing expereince for me - trying to understand a society structured so differently from our own can make you attain a greater understanding of your own and the other. From these expereinces, I've gained a love of languages and cross-cultural dialogue.
I want to 'ActNow' as I've come to realise that while you wait for things to happen the way you plan, so much else can be happening. It doesn't take much to take action, but the effect can be great.
I'm inspired by people who live their beliefs - people like Anna Politkovskaya, Zhao Ziyang, Julian Burnside, and Barack Obama.
