I’m a final year uni student doing Commerce/Arts and unsure if I want to leave uni or not and face the big uncertain world. I'm part of the ActNow Incubator team, and am a walking contradiction, I can never decide on what I want to do, and always want to do about 3 million things at I love sitting at cafes, enjoying coffee either by myself or with my friends and just watching the people that pass by. I like volunteering (much to the disgust of certain people) and helping others where/when I can.
I belong with those who try to do what they say, who like to get involved behind the scenes, rather than upfront; where curiosity killed the cat; in my own daydreams and whimsical (and often far-fetched) ideas and plots.
*What really gets you going - what makes you act? *
People who say something and don’t act upon it. I used to be one of those people and now that I know it’s achievable, those people who are all words and no action irk me. Liars and people who take advantage of others make me angry. Ignorance makes me very angry – I’m not very knowledgeable myself but when people are blatantly ignorant and take everything in the media as gospel, that brings out the urge to debate and challenge them to read more and find out more. Inspirational speakers and my friends – seeing them and hearing their stories always gives me courage and inspiration to do things.
*What is your first reaction when you hear something you don’t agree with?*
Silence – to let the other person finish their speech and to formulate my own opinion with justification as to why I don’t agree.
*What’s the difference between caring about something and doing something about the things you care about?*
Actions speak louder than words. Taking the first step to DO something about what you care about, rather than just sitting there and talking/whinging about it.
*What makes you laugh?*
Silliness, my own silly ideas and questions that I hassle my friends about and the silly answers they’ll provide to humour me.
