Hi, I'm Sophie...i work at Inspire in the development team to help raise the money to ensure we have very cool programs like ActNow! I love working here - i actually heard about Reach Out! about 9 years ago when i organised a forum on youth suicide in my local community and Jack Heath (Founder of Inspire) came along to speak. I remember thinking - wow, imagine doing that job full time and making such a huge difference to the lives of young people. I'm a huge lover of reading so for many years I worked in the book publishing world until i was at my local cafe reading the paper and saw an ad for a job at "Inspire"..didn't know that Inspire was the organisation behind Reach Out!, but was intrigued enough to look up the Inspire website to find out what they do. Then i made the connection with Reach Out!, saw my job on the home page and hoped I could convince them that I could transfer my sales and marketing skills into being a fundraiser, had about 4 gruelling interviews and a week later got the job! So here i am... What do i want to change about the world? I want there to be more romance, more love, more holding hands and many more hugs in the street. Also would love to have more boxes in the street for people to recite their poetry. What makes me want to ActNow? knowing that if i can make another person smile, then i'd like to actnow. Who inspires me? My younger sister who is profoundly deaf and has overcome so many obstacles and has acheived so much with an incredible amount of resilience, grace and beauty. What makes me laugh? Seeing my good mate Jools go ballistic on the dance floor and hearing her hungry laugh fill the room.
