I think changing the world is too big of a task for any individual to carry, but we can choose to live according to what we think is right. The biggest misconception people have is that change needs to happen big. The most effectual change happens in increments, in doing small things that encourage others to also make change.
Who am I: Originally trained in political philosophy, I have decided to see what the real world has to offer. Learn through experience people! Currently experiencing the culture shock of being back home in Indonesia after 13 yrs away. A poster child of globalisation having lived in: Hongkong, upstate New York and Sydney with stopovers in London and Madrid.
My goal: To make people think
Also ... I want to get involved in policy making to improve relations between developed nations and developing nations. There is too much distrust out there at the moment with developing nations feeling like they are being exploited and pressured into doing things they do not want to do. I think this tension often arise because the people writing the policies have a lack of cultural understanding of the countries involved.
Things that are important to me: Education, children, globalisation (it is unavoidable so we better do something about it), human rights, poverty, religion
Biggest peeve: intellectual laziness. Part of intelligence is making the effort to think things through and to analyse things accordingly. It's not that most people are stupid, most people don't make the effort to be smart. That's the first step to making change.
