German Shepherds, the Big Dipper and yellow cars trigger nostalgia. I like dancing on the porch, open fires, and stars. Whenever I hear "Bridge Over Troubled Waters" I cry, and Arundhati Roy's The God of Small Things makes me want to write like that. I turn off lights like a grumbling dad; I fish recyclable things out of the household bin like a bag lady; but I am neither. I care quite a lot about the Amazon rain forest, the rights of children, womens' rights, sexuality, the environment, animal rights, mental health, cultural awareness, the Australian bush, solar energy, education and freedom.
