You make me smile and frown at the same time.

Dear Mr Rudd,
I was so excited when you first got elected. I believed you would bring a well needed change to our country. I was one of those people that voted for you. Yet to this day I am unsure of you. I wish you would go out on a limb more and truly fulfill the dreams and visions you made to us.
When i think about you now, i think about the families, the communities that do not have the luxury of living in Australia. I think of those that face the epidemic of famine, disease and extreme poverty. I think about the promises we made as a nation. Not only to ourselves but to the world.
We are apart of the 191 countries that signed up to the Millennium Development Goals. We said that we would increase the amount of aid. That we would also drop the debt that is owed. And that our trade would become fair. Aid, Debt and Trade. Three simple words. Words that if acted on, would save millions of people. People who have done nothing wrong, yet face adversity every single day due to their geography.
Mr Rudd, keep your promise. Do what is right. Let us as a country get to 0.7. Let us be apart of the movement that will make poverty history.
Poverty is man made. We live in a world where slavery still exists. But we also live in a world where we can make a difference. Its not a question of when, or is there enough resources to do so, its a question of do we have the will?
Mr Rudd...we do have a way and a will. The time to act is now.
