My Vision for the Future
Inspired by a car ride with a few mates who know the world sucks, support changes, who say they are making changes but they're actually not. Fellas, actions speak louder than words

It frustrates me when people you've known for a long time criticise the work you do and love to share their negative attitudes. I attempted to describe how I see the world in 20 years time - but they basically ripped it to shreds, telling me what's "realistic".
I want to share a short piece I wrote about my vision of the world in 20 years time (for the Inspire Summit) - Is it really that stupid?
20 years is a pretty long time. I'm 20 years old now, and so much has changed since I was born. Internet, Mobile phones, Google, Youtube, hybrid cars? Our world is one the move and changing at such a fast pace that I really can't visualise what it would be like in 20 years, so I can only guess.
I think technology will continue to expand, humans will continue to shape and re-shape the environment and consume anything and everything. I think the world is already in a massive crisis. People I talk to say "The end is near so let's just enjoy it while we can.". I have to agree that we are heading downhill, but from every negative there's always a positive.
I believe that through adversity, people become closer and united. Despite knowing problems the world face, I'm still smiling and laughing not because I don't care, but because I have hope. I am lucky enough to be surrounded by some very positive people - family, people from work, school, university and especially the friends I have met through Inspire. They inspire me to imagine a hopeful future.
I imagine a world where people are working together, where the goals of corporates, government and community are aligned. I imagine a world where countries, cultures and religions are united, where leaders put aside their differences and acknowledge that everyone is in this together. Together, taking real action and saving our sacred world. I imagine a world of understanding and compassion - a world without fake smiles but where human beings are truly happy because everyone is doing something to heal our planet's many bruises.
