Animals should be kept in captivity because by keeping them in a safe environment, it saves them from becoming extinct and protects them from hunters, predators and diseases.
Many animals in the world like tigers, leopards, and lions that are hunted for their skin are in danger of being wiped out all together. These animals are targeted by wealthy game hunters who want to kill these animals and will spare no expense to hunt these animals. Also because of the increase in settlement and farming in jungles and forests, many wild animals habitats is being destroyed and the animals are dying out because their have no food or shelter. The only way these animals can be saved and survive is by keeping them in captivity.
In today’s climate animals in the wild are at high risk of catching diseases, suffering injuries from their predators and being poisoned by contamination of chemicals in rivers and steams. Many of these animals will die because they do not have any proper medical care where as in captivity the animals have expert medical attention by Vets and are looked after by trained people. As a result their chance of survival is much higher in captivity than it would be in the wildness.
Food supplies and water is now very scarce in many areas of the world where wild animals live. Animals can go the day for many days without food or water and many of them will perish and die because of starvation. As forest and jungle are being cleared by humans for industry and farming, the animals have no food source and are being forced to go in areas where they are open to diseases and be killed by humans. Also because of the hashed conditions animals are not able to breathe successfully and many species are dying out. In a protected enclosure, animals are looked after and are fed everyday. They are healthier than animals in the wild and are at a lower risk at catching infections and diseases. They also provide controlled breathing conditions and this ensures that the animals can survive in the future.
In the modern world animals are now kept in an environment similar to what they would have in the wild. Many of them live in protected animal parks and spacious enclosures with others animals from the same species and are able to roam freely. They are not kept in cages anymore. By keeping animals in captivity they are able to interact with humans and this gives us the opportunity to research and study the animal so we can help in their future survival. It also provides valuable education to people because they learn about the different kinds of animals and what we can do to protect them and appreciate their contributions to the world’s environment.
Animal survivals relies on animals being kept in a protected environments, if animals were not kept in captivity they would simply disappear and this would a major impact on our eco systems and the natural environment.
