Whhhaaattt???

A few weeks ago, just before Christmas - an Action was featured on the homepage of actnow.

It was titled "take the lead"

As I read through, it sounded pretty cool. I had 3 days to spare, nothing to lose so I just signed up and here is a summary of my experience.

Where?

In the middle of State Forest at Inana, Bucketty.

What we did?

The Oz GREEN experience involved living with nature for 3 days. Eating from Inana's organic farm and entertaining ourselves through heaps games and outdoor activities! The Youth LEAD program educated us about the environment and showed us ways we could take action on these issues through visioning, strategic questioning and action planning.

What did I personally get out of this experience?

Sharing the past three days with passionate people from all ages was truly inspiring. Hearing stories of achievement, hope and change has really given me extra motivation to make change in the world.

Many people ask me what drives me, and after some thinking, I really think it is the people around me who inspire me. I am lucky enough to be surrounded by so much positivity. When I was down, I didn't see the good in life - but lately, I have really opened my eyes to the world around me.

Anyway, back to my Inana adventure - I think it was great to get away, to get some head space and unleash myself from the busy, fast-paced rhythm of citylife. To get the opportunity to stay at a unique place like this is quite rare. My time with Oz Green has further emphasised how crazy our society is! To live without worries and enjoying the simplicity of life was pretty amazing...

Would I recommend others to do the same?

Well, it really depends on your personality. If you don't like insects, lizards, spiders, short showers, peeing in the bush, meditation and pooing into a hole, then THIS IS FOR YOU! I reckon taking a step out of your comfort zones and breaking those fear barriers can do heaps of good! Trust me!

But yes, I would definitely recommend it.

Motto of my life: You only live once!

My most memorable moment

Going for a bushwalk, then feeling my feet getting cooler and cooler. Enjoyed the free feet cooler for a while, then realised I had leaches in my shoes. I pulled them off straightaway before they could tap into my blood! haha, suckers... *pun!*

I think that this is a great example of how actually taking part in a Thing to Do can enrich and empower your life.

Not so keen on the leeches though!!

Hey Joker,

Congrats for going through with the bush tackle. Sometimes, you just need to do something like OzGreen to open your eyes, and get yourself re-motivated in this fast- paced society of ours.

Thanks for sharing it with us!
