My Youth Challenge

I've just been accepted by Youth Challenge Australia to go to India for 10 weeks and help those in need! The only trouble is getting enough money together.

How did I get this fantastic oppotunity? When I found out about this website I also found links that took me to the Youth Challenge Australia website and I instantly applied for the selection day. I was amazed to find out that I got through that phase.

At the selection day there were many experienced young people there to tell us about all the countries they'd been to. The activities were very interesting and I even got to teach a little charlston dance. I particularly loved the reinactment of a tribal community that the staff had creatively portrayed... very funny.

I got a call the other day telling me I'm off to India. WOW excitement!!!

I'm now planning all of my fundraising and hopefully I will raise the amount I need. I plan to send letters to companies for sponsorship and I've also sent an email to all of my friends asking them for help. I am thinking about putting on a movie night at a little theatre and my school and dance club may also be able to help with the fundraising. I am also thinking about doing a little performance (me singing with my friend on guitar) in the local shopping centre (I'll have to ask around about that). If all else fails I'll get a few of my friends together to help sell chocolates.

It's quite a challenge but it will be worth it in the end. I can't believe I leave for Melbourne on December 5th this year and leave for India soon after that!

I'll let everyone know how my fundraising went and then how my whole trip went after that!
