Volunteering on a sunny day

This would have to be the dream volunteering gig. Gorgeous sunny day, live music, friendly people, amazing art work, street performances... and all had to do was wear an organge vest and look responsible!

Seriously though, I didn't realise that volunteering at an event could be so easy. The Gang Street Festival was the final event in the Gang Festival calendar. It was a street art exhibition that included street and musical performances, a barter and food market and buskers. I helped out as a marshal, giving people info and making sure that drivers understood why particular streets were closed to traffic.

Although the organisers needed more than I could give, I was clear with them about how much time I had and they were able to make use of me!

It was a really enjoyable experience and it felt great to know that I'd helped out at such an important event. Realistically, 4 hours out of my sunday was nothing!
