An ActNow Story page is the place to get personal! It’s an emotive piece about an action you've completed and how you feel about it—the good, the great, the bad, the ugly—decisions, achievements, lessons learned etc.
It’s also the place to recount the stories of others, or of action-related events that have taken place. The story pages are the place to inspire and inform.
Description
- This is a summary of the story. It appears as the ‘grab’ at the top of your story and is also displayed in search results.
- Make it snappy and convince the reader to read on.
Body
- Use simple language.
- Be emotive.
- Think about the key parts of a good story—who is it about, what happened, when did it happen, and where did it happen?
- Remember—it’s all about action! Don’t get bogged down in the detail of the issue. You want your story to provide the reader with information about taking action (it might be inspiring them to do the same thing you did, or providing information that helps people to make a more informed decision about the action they want to take)
- You can make it confidential if you want—i.e. it can be written by you about someone who wants to remain anonymous.
- Try to include a photo but remember to make sure you have the photographer's permission to upload the photo and that you attribute the photo to them on ActNow. You can do this by writing their name in the ‘photographer’ field BEFORE pressing ‘upload. Remember to select the photo as a thumbnail and to embed the image in the body text . See Text Formatting Instructions (located as link under body on create content page) for help.
- You can relate your story to relevant ActNow content. Is there an issue page which relates to your story? A ‘thing to do’? Opinion piece? Photo gallery? Organisation? Multimedia? Tool? If not, consider writing something yourself or making a request.
